Saab Formula Junior

Saab Formula Junior

Formula Junior of 1959 was an outside class since single-seat racers with engines from standard road cars were merely found on the road at that time.
In 1960, some fanciers at Saab’s blended examination and challenger section settled to built a Formula Junior – even though the engine was considerably under the allowable deracination of 1100cc.
Taking an advance that was unlike to the traditional was not strange for Saab and thisproject was no different. The engineers at Saab constructed an advanced monocoque car in contrast to the space frame designs of their competitors. The three-cylinder two-stroke was set up, horizontally, in the face of the gearbox in the front of the car. The Saab Formula Junior was, of course, forced by the front wheels. Engine turnout was approximately 86hp just the weight distribution of the car put 70% at the front.
The Formula Junior was flying on the straights and could brake later on than its challengers but it suffered from extravagant understeer on the turning points The Saab Formula Junior was not to the full aggressive and after a few seasons the racing of the car was stopped.
